Warning: Phishing Texts

OIT has received a report of a phishing text message sent to a CGU student from someone falsely claiming to be Interim President Michelle Bligh. The message created a sense of urgency and asked the recipient to reply. The number reported was 907-413-2139.

If you receive a suspicious text message:

  • Do not reply.
  • Do not click any links.
  • Do not provide personal or account information.
  • Use the “Report Junk” or “Report Spam” feature on your phone when available.
  • Contact the OIT Help Desk if you are unsure whether a message is legitimate.

Phishing attempts often rely on urgency, authority, or fear to get people to act quickly. When in doubt, stop and verify before responding.
