The instruction mode describes the way that class instruction is delivered to students. Classes may combine one or more of each element. For additional information on each instruction mode, expand the selections below.
- Synchronous component are instructional activities that occur at the same time
- Asynchronous components are instructional activities that do not occur in the same place or at the same time
- Blended classes require asynchronous components in addition to other delivery methods
- Concurrent classes allow students to participate either in-person or online
- Hybrid classes have some class meetings in-person and some meetings online
- In-person refers to any class that meets all together in a physical location, even if the location is not on the CGU campus premises
- All instruction modes may require the use of support systems, such as Canvas
CGU Class Instruction Modes
Class instruction is conducted in-person and online simultaneously; some students attend in-person, and some students attend online, but all receive some instruction at the same time. The class requires additional asynchronous components. Remote attendance policies may vary by class. Please contact faculty for class-specific policy.
