Nathan Bonar (pronouns: he/him) is a current PhD student in the English department, with a concentration in early modern studies. Nathan is originally from Tennessee, and he joined the SLDL team in 2023. He aspires to assist in developing a community environment on campus, where everyone can profit from intellectual generosity and camaraderie.

Outside of SLDL, Nathan is a Research Assistant for Dr. Joanna Poblete’s oral archive project. He is also an ESL teacher at Citrus, and an intern content creator for Our Co, a company that develops community awareness through polls and surveys. Lastly, Nathan is a founding editor of Em-Dash Graduate Academic Journal.

Nathan ends coursework in Fall 2023 and begins his work towards qualifying exams. He is also the recipient of several fellowship awards through the school and his department.

Nathan hopes to become a flourishing early modern studies professor specialising in archival and primary source research. In his free time, Nathan enjoys reading outside of his field, building furniture, and working towards crafting a printing press from traditional methods.
