Shine (pronouns: she/her), joined as a GA when she began pursuing a PhD in Education at CGU’s School of Educational Studies in Fall 2019. She works tirelessly on SLDL’s social media, newsletter, and website. She also constantly considers how to better support CGU students. During Spring 2021, Shine founded SLDL’s kin·dle, a program for continuing students to develop community.

Outside of SLDL, Shine is a Research Associate at the Worker Wellbeing Lab, a feminist research lab directed by Dr. M. Gloria Gonzalez-Morales.

During Fall 2021, Shine passed her first qualifying exam, which focused on academic victimization and power dynamics. Shine is also a recipient of the inaugural Crossing Boundaries Research Award for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Shine hopes to eventually find a career that allows her to research, teach, and advocate for improved doctoral student support. When she’s not busy at SLDL or engrossed in her research, she strives to prioritize rest by hiking, catching up with friends, listening to music, and traveling.
