The best part of staying in Claremont is you can go west towards the beach in 90 minutes and the top of the San Gabriel Mountains along the cities northern border which offers scenic hiking, bicycling, horseback riding, and other adventures in 40min. This year there was so much snow locally in the mountains that is set a record historically. I have become obsessed with the beautiful mountains as a graduate student. The mountains which I saw during the summer are totally different during the winters and I am just in awe with the view from the down here.

So, me and friends decided to go up the mountains during our spring break this March. We did some google search and located the Mt. Baldy website where you can shop season passes, tickets, rentals, scenic chair lift rides and more.

We decided to just do the scenic chair lift ride as none of us know how to ski or snowboard. We booked our chair lift tickets online. (I would suggest getting the tickets online before you go up there and maybe 2-3 days earlier as it will be cheaper than buying it up on the mountains on the same day.)

We went there on a Sunday and hence it was a bit crowded up there but managed to get a parking spot as we reached up early just when the chair lift starts.

The chair lift ride up there was astounding the magnificent snowcapped mountains are breathtaking. Up on the mountains there’s a restaurant called ‘Top of the Notch’ which is warm, cozy and offers some good food and hot chocolate. There’s also a snow play area which will require a ticket to access and can be booked online.

It was cold up there and it started to get windy. We soon decided to get down as we were freezing and felt a bit underdressed (lol). We hopped on the chair lift to get down and it started snowing, what a fascinating view it was. I enjoyed the chair lift scenic ride a lot. Check the pictures.

While getting down the mountain we could see many people on the way who stopped to play in the snow, we took a stop too, it was still snowing. It was wonderful. We took lot of pictures and had snow much fun.
