Kailani Tokiyeda (pronouns: she/her) is a first-year Master of Public Health student at CGU’s School of Community and Global Health, studying Health Promotion, Education & Evaluation. As a born and raised Los Angeles native, she is dedicated to uplifting her LA community through education, advocacy, and creativity. She has 6 years of experience working in education as a private tutor, teaching assistant for LAUSD, Peer Health Educator for UCLA, and Piano Professor for Oclef Piano School.
She received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from UCLA with a minor in Musicology. She previously worked with UCLA’s Health Education and Resource Team as both their Sexual Health and Digital Media Coordinator. She was also the Founder and Co-President of UCLA’s Dear Asian Youth Chapter, a non-profit organization dedicated to Asian, Pacific-Islander, and Desi-American advocacy. Kailani’s interdisciplinary background reflects her collection of interests and passion for helping and promoting others. She hopes to work in higher education as a professor and program manager for university public health initiatives.
Currently, Kailani is excited to work with the Student Life, Diversity & Leadership (SLDL) office as she aims to facilitate more creative wellness and outreach programs with the team. In her free time, she enjoys playing and listening to live music, crocheting, and spending time with her cats.
