Student Spotlight: Hannah Middleton

Hannah Middleton (She/They) is an Applied Social Psychology PhD student at CGU. Over spring break, she hiked Chino Hills State Park (see above); a critical link in the Chino–Puente Hills wildlife corridor, and a major botanical habitat reserve for resident and migrating wildlife.

Hannah earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Statistics from Mount Holyoke College. She was fortunate that Mount Holyoke is a private liberal arts and gender diverse historical women’s college. It was during her undergraduate education in Massachusetts where they started research on the LGBTQ+ community and the intersection of mental health.

As an adoptee Hannah’s research interests are the mental health of transnational adoptees specifically from Asia or a Pacific Island, the mental and physical aftermath of children in custody battles, and the social belongingness of LGBTQ+ people of racial minorities.

She works in the Office of Admissions as an Admissions Assistant at CGU. In addition, Hannah is the Graduate Student liaison for the Queer Graduate Union. In the future she would like to research and build on the social psychology scholarship and center outreach on resource availability and mental health accessibility for transnational adoptees.
