Student Spotlight: Olivia Zhang
Each month, SLDL highlights a CGU student and the exciting work they are doing for their degree. This month we are highlighting Olivia Zhang.
Olivia is in her second year of the MA in Public Policy. Her area of interest is in environmental policy, specifically sustainable development. She has had the opportunity to work directly with faculty in her interest areas.
“Since I joined CGU, I’ve been exposed to many networking and research opportunities with various professors. I’m currently a Research Assistant for Professor Heather Campbell of the department of Politics and Economics. As her RA, I get to learn from and contribute to her book project regarding brownfield site removals and green gentrification.”
Olivia hopes to network with more professors in her interest areas, learn from their experiences, and become a more effective public policy analyst.
“I want to be able to make the world a better place by getting people to be apply more sustainable practices in taking care of the environment. So, with public policy, it’d be with the practices and policies they’d be implementing. So that could be in the public or private sector. I’m hoping to be a policy consultant because then I can work with clients in creating more environmentally-friendly practices.”
