The following is a list of external scholarship and fellowship programs available to graduate students. The list is organized according to the programs available at CGU, but students should check all sections for any applicable fellowships or grants. Please be aware that most of the funding opportunities are highly competitive, and that application deadlines vary throughout the year. Most of the listings include hyperlinks for more information; others will direct you to check the Foundation Directory Online, available by appointment to all graduate students in the Department of Development. This is not an exhaustive list. Please check with your respective school for funding opportunities that may available within the department.
Alice L. Haltom Educational Fund (May 1 Deadline)
The Alice L. Haltom Educational Fund exists for the purpose of furthering education in the field of information and records management. Students who are citizens of the United States or Canada and actively pursuing undergraduate and post- graduate degrees related to careers in information and records management are eligible for a scholarship from the fund. Careful consideration is given to requests for research grants, seminar support or other projects expected to increase and disseminate knowledge in information and records management. Cardenas Markets Foundation Scholarship Program (April Deadline)
Students, regardless of citizenship/immigration status, are encouraged to apply if they reside in an area where Cardenas Markets has a presence. Recipients will be selected based on their academic qualifications, financial need, leadership attributes, and commitment to serving their local community. Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund (April 1 Deadline)
The Davis-Putter Scholarship Fund provides financial support for students who are active and emerging organizers in progressive movements for liberation, self-determination and social and economic justice in their communities. Students involved in movements for progressive social change, enrolled in a degree, trade, or training program, and have financial need are eligible for this fund. Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), German Academic Exchange Service Grants Program (Varying Deadlines)
If you already hold a bachelor’s degree from a US-American higher education institution and are looking to continue your education in Germany, look no further. From study stays, to longer research periods, as well as scholarship opportunities for full degrees, there is a DAAD USA scholarship for almost everything. Research Grants are awarded to highly qualified candidates who have completed a master’s degree or diploma, or in exceptional cases a bachelor’s degree at the latest by the time they begin their grant-supported research. HALO Scholarship: Break the Silence Against Domestic Violence Scholarship (Check deadline)
The HALO Scholarship, established through the generous support of our HALO Fund program, is a testament to our commitment to honoring and empowering survivors, victims, and families impacted by domestic violence. Institute for Humane Studies, Expense Support/The Hayek Fund (Rolling-based Applications) Hayek Fund offers grants ranging from $500 to $5,000, with the potential for higher awards for exceptional projects. This funding opportunity is open to graduate students and faculty conducting research within the liberal tradition at an accredited college or university. Whether you need support for travel, research collaboration, journal submissions, or other eligible expenses, the program is designed to help offset the costs associated with your project. International Foundation for Ethical Research (IFER), Graduate Fellowships for Alternatives to the Use of Animals in Science (Application open in January)
IFER is accepting applications for the Graduate Fellowship Program from graduate students whose program of study shows the greatest potential to replace the use of animals in science. Grants of up to $15,000 will be awarded to support students enrolled in master’s and doctoral programs in science, education, psychology, humanities, and law; and for projects that show promise to increase public awareness and/or promote changes in the legal system or public policy with respect to the use of animals in research, testing, and education. Marshall Scholarships (September Deadline) Marshall Scholarships is an opportunity to study in the U.K. institution in any field. The opportunity is open to United States citizens who (at the time they take up their Scholarship) hold a first degree from an accredited four-year college or university in the United States with a minimum GPA of 3.7. *To qualify for awards tenable from October 2024, candidates must have graduated from their undergraduate college or university after April 2022. The Mensa Foundation Scholarship Program (January Deadline) The Mensa Foundation Scholarship Program awards more than $200,000 in assistance every year to college-bound students around the globe. Scholarships are awarded based solely on 550-word essays expressing applicants’ academic and professional goals and how their personal experiences will help them to accomplish those goals. Mesothelioma.com Scholarship (March 31 Deadline)
Mesothelioma.com awards $4,000 to one student whose life has been impacted by cancer. This scholarship provides financial assistance to college students pursuing higher education. MPOWER Financing, Global Citizen Scholarship (October Deadline)
MPOWER Financing Global Citizen Scholarship awards annually to international and Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) students enrolled at schools MPOWER supports. Student who are accepted at, or enrolled in, a full-time degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports, and international students legally study in the U.S. or Canada are eligible to apply. OAS Academic Scholarship Program (Regular Program) (Varying Deadlines)
The OAS Academic Scholarship Program is designed to support full-time students at any university in an OAS Member State, including those participating in the OAS Consortium of Universities. The program grants scholarships every year for the pursuit of Master’s degrees, Doctoral degrees, and Graduate Research leading to a university degree. Scholarships are awarded for at least one academic year and a maximum of two academic years. OAS Partnerships Program for Education and Training (PAEC) (April 30 Deadlines) The Partnerships Program for Education and Training (PAEC) offers attractive scholarship opportunities, tuition waivers, and discounts for academic studies, with the support of partner institutions in OAS Member States and around the world. Scholarships are offered for professional development, undergraduate, and graduate programs leading to an academic degree or certificate. Operating since 2010, the PAEC is administered per the respective corporation agreement in line with the principles set forth in the OAS Manual of Procedures for the Scholarship and Training Program. Orangewood Foundation Advanced Studies Scholarship (May 1 Deadline)
Orangewood Foundation Advanced Studies is a scholarship program for former foster youth who have received a college degree and want to pursue advanced studies (Master’s, PhD, Certification, etc.), and have a current or past connection to Orangewood Foundation. Scholarship awards are generally $2,500 and up per year based on need and criteria. Rotary Foundation, Peace Center Fellowships (Application open in February 2025 for 2026-2027 academic year)
The Rotary Peace Center program develops leaders who serve as catalysts for conflict prevention and resolution. Each year, Rotary awards up to 130 fully funded fellowships for dedicated leaders worldwide to study at one of our peace centers. The fellowships cover tuition and fees, room and board, round-trip transportation, and internship and field-study expenses. Royal Museums Greenwich, Caird Research Fellowship (Application open in Fall, 2025)
Caird Research Fellowships welcome research that engages with the Museum’s social purpose and guiding concepts, which include identity, diversity, community, creativity, and human impacts on the planet and our natural world. The Fellowship’s duration can run for a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 12 months, and the award is £2,100 per calendar month. Applications within (but not restricted to) a range of areas including art history and creative arts, maritime, social and cultural history, histories of science and technology, conservation studies, museum and heritage studies, material culture studies, historical geography and literary studies are acceptable. Taco Bell Foundation, Live Más Scholarship (January Deadline)
Live Más Scholarship is not needs or achievement based; it is a passion-based scholarship program for students (ages 16-26) who are passionate about creating a better future and making a positive impact on their community. Applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary educational program in the United States and submit an original video that tells us the story of your real, driving passion. The Weingart Foundation, The John W. Mack Movement Building Fellows Program (Biennial, Check 2025 application availability) The John W. Mack Movement Building Fellows program is an 18-month fellowship to strengthen and develop current and emerging movement leaders to lead social and racial justice work that results in a more just and equitable Southern California region. Berkman Charitable Foundation, Marketing Scholarship (September 9 Deadline)
The Foundation will award $1,000 scholarships to worthy students choosing to pursue a graduate or undergraduate degree in marketing. The GFOA offers several scholarships for business (or related field) students who plan to pursue a career in state or local government finance.
