The Don and Virginia Eckelberry Endowment for nature artists was established in 2000 to honor two distinguished artists who devoted their careers to celebrating the diversity of the natural world through art. The Eckelberrys’ legacy endures through the superb quality of their own creations and through their lifelong commitment to helping others pursuing careers in this vital field. Eckelberry fellowships are open to visual artists worldwide whose work focuses on nature, whether as the subject or as part of the environment. William Male Foundation (October and April Deadlines)
Awards a broad array of grants to assist individual artists in San Diego County. Applicants may be pursuing formal training in the arts at a college/university/academy or from a private instructor or coach. Formal training, however, is not required, and funds may also be used for travel, study, or other similar purposes to enhance a particular skill of the grantee or to produce a specific product.

The center offers two fellowship programs for highly-motivated arts managers. The DeVos International Summer Fellowship Program offers international not-for-profit arts managers an immersive program to study arts management strategy. For four weeks each summer, for three consecutive years, international fellows participate in seminars, group projects, individual mentorships and practical rotations supervised by Institute faculty and Center senior staff. The Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library offers several research grants to support new scholarship on women, gender and sexuality. A major grant from the Andrew W. The Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellowship (Applications Open October)
The Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellows Program is a unique two-year international fellowship administered by the Congressional Hunger Center (CHC).
