Academy of Natural Sciences, Eckelberry Fellowship for Artists (October Deadline) Eckelberry fellowships are open to visual artists worldwide whose work focuses on nature, whether as the subject or as part of the environment. The fellowship award is typically between $3000 and $5,000, with one award made annually. The applicant should provide a proposal for a project with a tangible end product that is supported by a third-party institution such as a gallery, school, publisher, national or regional park or museum. American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), AIGA Worldstudio D×D Scholarships (April Deadline) AIGA Worldstudio D×D Scholarship is aimed at providing support to students from diverse backgrounds pursuing a career in the design profession. Scholarships are awarded annually to students enrolled at colleges and universities in the U.S. who demonstrate a commitment to positive social change, environmental responsibility, and cultural awareness through the practice of visual communication, including photography, illustration, or graphic design. An eligible applicant must pursue an undergraduate or graduate degree in communication design, Illustration, and Photography to pursue that discipline as a career. U.S. citizenship is not required. Asian Cultural Council, Graduate Scholarships (Application open in Fall) The Asian Cultural Council awards scholarships to students admitted to a graduate degree program in the United States. Grantees must be enrolled in a program that falls within the 16 accepted disciplines. Funding is intended to cover travel and living expenses related to graduate study. Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, INC. Money for Women (January 31 Deadline) Founded in 1975 by writer and social justice activist Barbara Deming, Money for Women is the oldest ongoing feminist granting agency. Grants from the foundation give monetary support and encouragement to feminist writers and visual artists who are women (cis or transgender) or nonbinary. Thoma Foundation, Marilynn Thoma Fellowship in Art of the Spanish Americas (December 15 Deadline)
The Carl & Marilynn Thoma Foundation offers predoctoral and postdoctoral fellowships in support of projects and research initiatives that will advance study of the art of the Spanish Americas. Scholars may come from any discipline, but all projects must relate to the study of art and art history. Exceptionally accomplished scholars holding an MA may also apply. International scholars, particularly from Latin America, are strongly encouraged to apply. William Male Foundation (June and December Deadlines)
William Male Foundation awards a broad array of grants to assist individual artists in San Diego County. Applicants may be pursuing formal training in the arts at a college/university/academy or from a private instructor or coach. Formal training, however, is not required, and funds may also be used for travel, study, or other similar purposes to enhance a particular skill of the grantee or to produce a specific product. The Poetry Foundation awards five Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowships annually. The Lydia Cabrera Award is a research award of up to $5000 given to support the study of Cuba between 1492 and 1868. The Mickey Leland International Hunger Fellows Program is a unique two-year international fellowship administered by the Congressional Hunger Center (CHC). Its mission is to develop leaders committed to finding lasting solutions to hunger and poverty worldwide through both direct programming and good policies. Leland Fellows are given the opportunity to develop new skills while actively working to alleviate hunger and poverty. The Phillips Fund provides grants for research in Native American linguistics, ethnohistory, and the history of studies of Native Americans, in the continental United States and Canada.
