Location: Mudd Quadrangle (southeast corner of Tenth Street and North Dartmouth Avenue) in Claremont

The CGU ceremony will be simulcast in Albrecht Auditorium and livestreamed online. Please see the main CGU Commencement webpage for additional information when available.

Important Deadlines

Commencement Ceremony Registration

Per the Commencement Participation Policy students are eligible to register for the Commencement ceremony if:   

• They have received their degrees* during the Summer and Fall semesters that immediately precede the current Spring semester and who have not participated in a previous ceremony for the same degree, or 
• They will be graduating during the Spring semester and have not participated in a previous ceremony for the same degree. 

*Degrees are defined as master’s or doctoral degrees.  Students who received or are receiving a certificate only are not eligible to participate in the commencement ceremony. 

A link to the Commencement Registration Form will be sent by commencement@cgu.edu to the student’s CGU email address when the registration period opens on Monday, March 3rd. Students must register their intent to participate in the ceremony by Friday, April 4, 2025 to be included in commencement ceremony materials.  

Students who do not receive this email or are unable to locate this email can also access the form on the Registrar’s Office Forms website.  

Summer 2025 degree recipients

Students expecting to complete their degree in the Summer 2025 term are invited to submit the Commencement Registration Form to express their intent to participate in the Spring 2025 ceremony. However, as university policy restricts participation to those students who completed their degree in the Summer 2024, Fall 2024, and Spring 2025 terms, the request will undergo additional review. Please note that upon submission of the Commencement Registration Form, the form will be automatically routed through the petition process. Students are not required to submit a separate petition to register their intent to participate.  

As a reminder, diplomas will not be issued at the Commencement Ceremony and will be shipped to Spring 2025 degree recipients at a future date. For more information about diploma distribution please visit the Registrar’s Office website. 

Regalia Information

Jostens will be on campus on May 17th and will have regalia available for graduates to purchase. (Only CASH or CHECK will be accepted as a form of payment). An ATM is available at The Claremont Colleges Library – 1^st Floor located at:

We ask that all students participating in commencement use the new gowns, ensuring a unified and memorable experience. Please do not borrow regalia from a former student or family member, as this special day deserves attire that is uniquely yours. Let’s make this celebration unforgettable!”

CGU Masters Degree Candidates

Masters Cap, Gown, Hood, Tassel w/ Year Charm $85.00

Students receiving a Master’s degree who plan to participate in CGU Commencement activities can now order regalia via Jostens. Select your gown fit and degree major from the drop-down list on the website. The deadline for ALL orders is April 4, 2025. This hard deadline is necessary to manage production, processing, and shipping timelines.

CGU Doctoral Degree Candidates (Keeper Regalia)

Doctorate Tam (one size), Gown, Tassel & Hood $120.00

Students receiving a Ph.D. degree who plan to participate in CGU Commencement activities can now order regalia via Jostens. The regalia fabric is red and black poly-crepe fabric, a standard material replicating the fine-quality CGU regalia. Select your gown fit and major from the drop-down list on the website. The deadline for ALL orders is April 4, 2025. This hard deadline is necessary to manage production, processing, and shipping timelines.

CGU Doctoral Degree Candidates (Fine Quality Regalia)

Doctorate Tam (one size), Gown, Tassel & Hood $950.00

Students receiving a Ph.D. degree who plan to participate in CGU Commencement activities can now order regalia via Jostens. The fine-quality (premium materials) regalia fabric is a Red Polycrepe Gown with Black Velvet Panels and high-quality trimming. Select your gown fit and major from the drop-down list on the website. The deadline for ALL orders is April 4, 2025. This hard deadline is necessary to manage production, processing, and shipping timelines.
