6 STEPS TO SUCCESSFUL EVENT PLANNING
Planning to hold an event on campus? The steps below are designed to help event organizers in planning and implementing logistical details for events.
Brainstorm & Prepare Planning Documents
Templates, Samples & Diagrams
Assess resources, needs and interests. Know what you have to work with before planning. Who will attend? What are their interests? What are your goals? What needs are you trying to meet? Develop a budget, timeline and task list and event flow documents.
Reserve CGU Spaces
There are many university departments competing for limited campus space. Reserve your space as early as possible.
Secure Vendors & Catering
Contact all persons necessary for a successful event: speakers, staff and volunteers, caterers, florists, musicians, and photographers.
Adhere to Policy
Check to see if you are following CGU guidelines and procedures. And confirm that any necessary paperwork i.e. contracts, permits, insurance forms, have been completed.
Evaluate Your Event
Look back at the event as a team to discuss what worked and what can be improved for future events by completing a post-evaluation form.
