F-1 Visa – International Services

If you are planning to apply for a student visa (F-1), you will need a Form I-20/ SEVIS record from CGU. SEVIS stands for Student and Exchange Visitors Information System. SEVIS is a US based database for non-immigrants (and their dependents) on an F, J and M visa. CGU’s International Services staff will assist you with processing the required I-20/SEVIS record after you have been admitted to a degree program at CGU. The requirements for obtaining an I-20 are listed below:

Tuition Deposit/Intent to Enroll

To begin the I-20 process, you must first submit your program tuition deposit (you should only submit one deposit). Contact your Admissions Representative if you have questions.

Affidavit of Financial Support

International students must submit a signed Affidavit of Financial Support form to verify they have the financial means to attend CGU. The Affidavit of Financial Support can be found in the right hand menu section under FORMS.

Financial Statement or Proof

International students must also submit financial proof (e.g. bank document or letter from sponsor) to cover the cost of attendance for 12 months. Please view the cost of attendance calculator for SEVIS purposes, to determine the amount of funding necessary for an I-20.

The total amount due is also listed on the Affidavit of Financial Support form. The Affidavit of Financial Support form will also provide a list of approved types of financial statements.

Copy of Passport

A copy of your passport page is required. If you have dependents, a copy of their passport page is required as well.

SEVIS Transfer Requirements

If you currently have an active SEVIS record, you will need your school or university to transfer your current SEVIS record to CGU.

Please contact your current International Advisor on the steps and information needed. Typically, most schools will require a copy of your CGU admission letter, and they may have a transfer form that you need to complete. For reference, CGU’s Campus Code is: LOS214F00805000.

UEMS Eship Global

CGU uses UEMS Eship Global, an express mail services that will allow you to pay for and receive your documents through DHL, UPS or FedEx in 5-7 days. A digital copy of your I-20 will be emailed to you. However, if you want a hard copy, THIS IS REQUIRED to have your I-20 shipped.
