Transition to Microsoft Teams Website content

Why transition to Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams is a tool with many equivalent features to Zoom for video conferencing and collaboration, and in some cases many more.

Given the maturity of the Teams product coupled with adoption of Teams and other Microsoft solutions for other services at CGU, enhancing CGU’s security posture by limiting the number of products integrated into our systems, and the ever-increasing cost of products like Zoom, the university has decided to start transitioning from Zoom to Teams for all non-teaching meetings.

*Note: CGU will continue to utilize Zoom for teaching activities at the present time. Some of the benefits of Teams for video conferencing include:

  • Persistent chat between channels, teams, and individuals
  • Improved calling and video conferencing capabilities
  • Cloud recording
  • Video customizations
  • Full integration with the Office 365 suite of products
